Replaced them with oak and it works great. Was a little disappointed in the mdf/melamine sides. The big advantage of this fence is the very fine adjustments that can be made. This is a good fence that provides a lot of very fine adjust ability Fairly easy to install, easy to adjust. Had to shim one side to keep fence flat.
This product is easy to use and has been very helpful in many wood working projects.
I did remove the saftey guard that they have on top and added an extension soI had a place to mount featherboards to. This is a great fence for the value. It is well manufactured, precise, and simple to operate.
The dust collection port works well and the fence is easy to calibrate. This fence is as good or better than any others I have seen.
After I made my modifications I am very happy with the Micro Adjusting Fence. I also did not like the MDF fence that came from Freud it was very flimsy again I made another modification. Freud SH-5 Professional Micro-Adjustable Router Table Fence The Freud SH-5 did not install on my router table with out making a plate to fit the existing T-Slots. I did not drill new mounting holes like the installation instructions suggested.
